Nancy Klausner (Education Nominee)

Nominated by Carrie Johnson – “A world where every student can achieve and every family can succeed!”. The compassionate and lovely Nancy Klausner is the current Mrs. Georgia US United 2012. She graduated from high school with over $30,000.00 in scholarships. She is a graduate of Clayton State University. She has a BA in Middle Grades Education, with a concentration in Mathematics and Social Studies. Mrs. Klausner is a certified and highly qualified educator in mathematics in grades 4-12 and social studies in grades 4-8. She is currently working on her Masters at Georgia State University and maintains a GPA above a 3.75. Before working in the secondary public school sector, Mrs. Klausner spent five years at working at the Center for Academic Success at Clayton State University. In her years at the Center for Academic Success, she held many positions and received several awards, including recognition for increasing student success rate in over ten different course areas. After working at the Center for Academic Success, she taught sixth grade mathematics, eighth grade mathematics and eighth grade history. Motivated to help others obtain their goals and be a remarkable role model Mrs. Klausner has advocated for equal educational opportunities and has promoted healthy lifestyles for economically disadvantaged students. Mrs. Klausner was the director and founder of the Math Club, and obtained over $10,000.00 in donations to send her students to Math Fest, a national mathematics competition. Her students brought home over ten metals; sweeping the competition. Mrs. Klausner and her students were featured in the Marietta Daily Journal for their achievements during the Math Fest. She worked with Joshua Smith of the Atlanta Hawks and City Of Hope for her impoverished school. She has been nominated for national awards such as the Yahoo! Women Who Shine award and She Is An Icon awards. After seeing firsthand the devastating effects of the lack of equal educational opportunities, Mrs. Klausner set out to make a difference in her community. With the support of family and friends Mrs. Klausner set out to fill those gaps and provide students from all socioeconomic status equal educational opportunities. She formed Higher Family Achievement and has been impact youth in the metro Atlanta Area since its inception. Through Higher Family Achievement Mrs. Klausner is able to fight the battle against childhood hunger, providing nutritious food for economically disadvantaged families. She is also able to engage in the issue of equal educational opportunities, thus helping to provide enrichment opportunities for economically disadvantaged students. She has taken disadvantage youth to the High Museum of Art, provided a holiday meals and toys for disadvantage families, provided over four hundred families with school supplies and much more.
